Good afternoon,
I am so happy to see the spring weather...EXCEPT for the allergies that come with it. Apparently juniper is through the roof and spring isn't officially here yet. Oh boy! We are all sneezing our heads off, even the dog. I had to give poor Tori a benadryl this morning. In my book, that's pretty bad. But, I love it when the sun is out and you can see signs of spring, green is starting to sprout. If only we could stop the winds and the pollens and all that stuff. Picky, aren't we?
I got home from church today, and changed the heart wreath on the door to my "Welcome Spring" sign. I just love decorating at this time of the year. I love the soft pastel colors and especially the pastel peanut m&m's. The look so pretty in my crystal bowl. I'll have to submit pictures, but I don't have the m&m's yet, its too early, I'd eat 'em up too fast. They can be addicting, ya know!
Plus, Easter is fast approaching. My favorite HOLIday. Why, you ask? Because, as the song says..."Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes". I love that song, along with many others, but that one stands out in my mind when I think of Easter songs. Thank you Jesus, for being obedient to your Father's will. Think how different "everything eternal" would be, had God not had His Son follow through with His plan, actually "taken that cup from Him"??? It was cruel and unjust, but that is how God the Father wanted it. So, we too need to be more obedient, but boy that is so hard. Especially when we want things to go our way, when we think we know what we need vs. what He knows we need. He has the perfect plan for us, we just need to trust Him and "Let go and Let God". Easier said than done, I know...
Now, I have to confess, or tattle on myself. This morning in chruch, my sweet birdie sitting a seat down from me, just kept on talking and trying to get my attention, bugging me! It is so hard to focus and pay attention with her in church. To answer the question, no we do not have another program for kids her age to attend. Our children's church is for those thur Kindergarten, she is in 6th. So I get testy with her and super frustrated. Of course, hubs sitting next to me is cluelss to all this going on. How can that be? It must be a mom/kid thing. Arrggg! I want her to be in church and to listen, but that ain't happenin'. And, I have mentioned this to our Pastor and he says, she is listening and getting "IT" in her own way. I'll admit, she does "GET IT" alot more than we give her credit for, it is just tough having her comment on every detail or this person or that song..."God, grant me patience". But, I better be careful what I pray for, He may give me something to really be patient for...Yikes!
I need to take a rest, just curl up on my 'daybed/couch' in what hubs calls my "woman cave". I love that room. It used to be birdies playroom, then a guest room, (which we never have guests) and now it is my craft room/play room/guest room. Don't y'all have one of those multi-purpose rooms in your house? Anyway, it is cozy and very bright (from natural light-faces south), and has things I love in that room. An afghan my loving Mamma made me, lots of pictures and my crafty stuff. What more could a gril/mommy want? Silence, peace and quiet! I guess I am asking alot...
Anyway, enough for today, I'm off to my "woman cave". BTW, hubs has his "cave" too, so don't go feelin' sorry for him, his is a room with a TV and his wall of "ME". You know, his awards and certificates, etc. He is in there right now. So, we each have our 'own' space. So nice, and our house is not big at all, however, there are only 3 of us, well 4 if you count Tori, and yes, she too has her own space, several actually! We are a tad spoiled :) Blessed really!
Until next time,
Serving Him,
Christina

A day with my Family!
Hello all,
I so enjoyed my day with the family. Birdie had a day off of school due to teacher inservice, hubs and I had our every-other-friday-off-together day, so we were all together. And yeah, we got to do the "walmart shopping" together. Such fun...actually, it is much easier with hubs help. Don't know that having birdie along is easier or not, it just is what it is! The part we all hate the most, is having to put it all away. Such a chore, don't you agree? But, the end result, a kitchen full of groceries and we were almost out of everything. Well, you know how it is...out of the important stuff you need to make a meal or have a glass of milk or cereal. So, what a blessing, to have food in the house so hubs can cook for us once again. He is so good to us. If he's not here we are out of luck, or out to eat...Thank you Lord for a hubby who takes such good care of us.
So, did you see birdie's pictures from my February post? I added them in later, so, if you haven't checked them out, please go back and take a look. She is my cutie patutie! BTW, that post in Feb. was called...So, here goes, the beginning. I am technically challenged, so I am very proud to have pictures on that post. Of course hubs helped me out there, but now (I think) I can do it myself. We shall see.
There is a story to be told about "PINK BEAR", the little bear in the background of 2 or 3 of those pictures. Birdie was given that as a gift when she was born, by her aunt and uncle. It stayed with her when she was airlifted to ABQ, and back to our little 'town' hospital. It was a huge part of her life, and it still resides on her bed, of course it is among several other "friends" she has collected over the years and hospital stays. Two other 'friends'..."KIRBY" and "SHIRLEY the SHEEP" were given to her by the o.r. staff while in the recovery room, after surgeries. That is one of the perks of a children's hospital, (if you can call being in a hospital getting a stuffy as a special 'gift' a perk). There are many other neat things they do for children, unfortunalely these kiddos have to go through so much, the "little perks" can bring some light to a dark, scary time for a child and their family. Anyway..."Pink Bear" has a music box inside and plays a familiar tune. She used to love it, but we think it reminded her of scary times and cried any time it was played. This was after she was about 3 years old. Even to this day (remember, she is almost 13), she likes it to be in her room, just don't let it "play that song". So, we respect that, and "PINK BEAR" is quiet; very dingy and well loved, but quiet nonetheless!!
Birdie has ALOT of these little quirks. But, come on, don't we all? If any one of us sat down long enough with a therapist, they would point out all sorts of things to us, that we think are perfectly 'normal'. Can I get an AMEN here? SO, as her parents God chose for her, we deal with these 'quirks' and go on about our business. Others would say, "you need to tell her to get over it", or "spank her", or lots of other things. But walk a mile in our shoes, or even a few steps and you will realize, birdie is one of a kind. That is why God chose us to be her parents! We are so glad too...I am not saying that these quirks are easy to live with, it is just what we DO, like it or lump it, it is what it is!!
I could go on for a month about all her quirks and silly stories we have to share, but I'll save those for others days...until then, enjoy. We are amazed that God thought enough of us to let us have her. Privileged is how we see it. She is such a joy and a treasure, we can't imagine life without her.
So, I leave you with this verse...
"As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, said Jesus, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life." John 9:1-3 (NIV)
I have it written as a reference in the front of my bible, so I can refer to it as often as needed.

I'm gettin' there!
Hello all,
Please go back and check my blog post: So, here goes, the beginning! I have added pictures of sweet "baby birdie". I could look at these pictures all day long, as I'm sure all mommies love to do. They bring back such precious memories. Birdie loves looking at her pictures in her scrapbooks too. I wish I made more time to sit down with her and reminisce, but every once in a while, we'll sit down and look through the books together. I hope you like them and that you see how precious birdie is.
Since I now know how to upload photos, I'll be adding more and more. I love pictures, they tell part of the story. Ya know, "A picture is worth a thousand words"! I love looking at other peoples pictures, it helps me get a feel for their story as well as ideas for projects. Think...magazines, catalogs, crafty DIY ideas. Anyway, I love pictures but I think I've said this before. Remember my friend said I had a "shrine" on my bookshelf. I love pictures and cute frames, as well as cute scrapbook pages and papers. I just wish I made more time for that too...I could, but the family might complain that they have NO clean clothes or the potties are gettin' gross, you get the idea.
So, please check back on that post to see my baby in all her glory. The first 3 months of life anyway. (BTW, there are 2 scrapbooks worth of pictures, I only added 6) There will be more pictures, gotta love 'em.
Today at church, we had a luncheon for the church secretary, celebrating 20 years of service. What a spread! Church folk know how to put on a potluck. So, needless to say, we are fat and happy, need a nap, and won't be eatin' dinner tonight. We'll save that meal, stuffed pork chops and taters (fingerlings), for Monday night. We always do that. Have big plans for a meal, then eat something for lunch and are too full for dinner. We are getting older and wiser..."our eyes were too big for our stomach", does that phrase ring a bell to anyone? One of my grandmothers favorites. Anyway, its been a busy day, so I'm gonna relax and maybe take a nap...
*********************************************************************************
Here is a verse for today:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight". Proverbs 3: 5-6

Try as I may!
Hi there,
I am trying so hard to figure out all this technical, behind the scene stuff...and it ain't easy. Have I mentioned before, I am NO computer wiz? I went to an internet conference and following that one, there is another toward the end of this month. Plus, there is a class in our town I had planned on going to, then a friend told me of yet another class to look into. OK! Now, if I can just wrap my head around what they are saying in these workshops...I'll be doin' good.
Now, in the meantime, I just have to coast along. I have been looking at all sorts of blogs out there. There are some really cute and informative blogs. I have gotten so much inspiration! Now if I can just share my info and make someone's day, I'll be so pleased.
Hubs and I are doing the "Fireproof - The Love Dare" bible study for our Sunday School class. We have to read up on the material so we will be prepared for class tomorrow. Leading a S. S. class is harder than I bargained for. But, I enjoyed the movie and the topic is "so today". I have also looked at trailers of a few of their other movies. They all have great story lines. Two that come to mind are: "The Fly Wheel" and "Facing the Giants". These movies and studies are by Michael Catt, Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick. These men are either pastors or associate pastors from a church in Georgia. I love that these are movies about real life topics and a message for the audience, all with out sex, violence, and language. I just wish they could be more mainstream...I'll keep prayin' on that note!
Next up on the agenda for tonight (besides reading our material), is a movie with birdie and popcorn. I said in my profile that I love movies about dogs, so...we are watching "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2". I can't wait. I don't who is more excited, birdie or mom. I am like a big kid, at least I'm easy to please, her too!!
So without further ado...talk at ya another day. I have family fun to get to!

Hump Day
Hello all in blog land.
Well, I got through today soooo much better than Monday, (at work-that is). Monday was the deadline to
turn in your tax stuff...I'm still clueless on this! This is so not the right job for me. I am like a fish out of water...or worse. After today, only 17 more days to work until TAX DAY is done with, (not like I'm counting). Man this is crazy-busy. I came home mentally and emotionally drained. My sweet birdie was so precious. She was concerned that her mommy was crying, she came and hugged me and said it will be alright, I'm here, daddy's here and Tori too. 'Cause you know everything is better when the doggy is with you, she even curled up beside me. The saying..."If momma ain't happy, nobody's happy" is so true, sometimes! At least Monday night it was true.
Have I mentioned I like staying at home, doing my "own thing"? I'm workin' on it though. I went to an Internet Marketing class - FREE - on Tuesday. I could invite 1 guest, and I did. I had a good time and I hope she did too. Learned a little more and signed up for a workshop in ABQ, it is an all day class on a Saturday. But, I get a free NETBOOK out of it, if nothing else. No, I really do want to learn this stuff, which right now seems so foreign. I will make my hubby go with me to that one, so he can learn some of this "lingo" too. Ya know, share the wealth...really just need his help and support and for him to hold my hand during this process. This is fun and exciting learning something new, something I can be passionate about. Well, I don't know about the technical side of it, but the blogging and other stuff is cool. He can be my "techie". And there is another workshop I plan on attending, at our towns' small business center at the end of this month. These classes should at least help me get a better feel of what it is I'm doing and where it is I'm heading. 'I Think!' I have so many things: ideas and visions and dreams for this blog. I just hope I can make it all happen. I continue to "commit it to the Lord". So, on that note...
Here is the verse for today. It is such a great verse, I will refer to it often, I even have it, (and lots others) written on index cards. Committing scripture to memory is very helpful, however, easier said than done. But, I still try!
**********************************************************************************
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
Proverbs 16:3
**********************************************************************************
My prayer is for God to give me guidance and direction. Don't we all need that?
Well, until next time/post...goodnight.

TGIF!
Hello again,
Thank goodness its Friday. Actually, I was glad to see Thursday because I only worked Monday and Wednesday this week. I know it sounds like an easy schedule...but I'm such a homebody and love being at home, to keep up the house chores and keep up on the laundry. It can pile up so fast and there are only 3 of us. I must be whimpy! I do have a great respect for moms who work full-time and run their house hold and all the many things required of moms. I just can't wrap myself around that kind of life. I want so badly to be a Stay-At-Home-Mom, that I'll try "close" to anything. I say "close" because I won't sell my soul to the devil just to make a quick buck. I want good, honest, and upstanding work (or work from home). We just need a little extra, to help out with groceries or dance class fees. So I haven't quit working yet. (*I currently work at a CPA office, and its tax season/Man its crazy*) That is what I hope to get out of this blog, besides of course telling "our" story and sharing with others our struggles and how we face them. I hope most of all that I please the Lord with this blog and how I live my life. I also want to share my love for Jesus in this blog. HE is the reason I am happy, content (most of the time), and have a zest for life. So I want to share that with everyone around me, so they too can experience HIS love and care, not to forget the "all important" Eternal Salvation. Its a free gift, ya know. The only true, free gift out there in this cold, cruel world. I will share alot more of my thoughts on this subject on another post, and another, and so on...
So my hubby and I sat down this morning to start in on our taxes. I have been putting all the important documents in a folder, collecting all the necessary papers and receipts, yada, yada, yada! Well, we started entering the info in Turbo Tax, and after the 3rd W-2, we thought we were hosed! I used to work for our town's school district. You know how little school employees make and I was just a part-time teachers aide. So that was no big deal because there were only 6 months on that one. Well, I got a new job 2 weeks into the school year. A real job, just kidding, my aide position was wonderful! I miss it, the kids and the wonderful staff. I just thought it was time to move on, giving my daughter more space and a little more independence, before she heads to the middle school. She has transitioned beautifully, mom...not so much! Anyway, back to our taxes. So in this new 'real' job, I was making some 'real' money for a change. Really exciting, until it comes to taxes. I was only there for 4 months, just enough to mess everything up. Or so we thought. We were sad, mad, then oh well, its just money, money we were going to do --- with. It always works out that way. Right when you get some money in the bank to use for --- it has to go for something else! Well, we took a break for a few hours to do other things on our day off together, and then hit it again. After entering all our other documents and deductions (remember, we have a child with medical issues and lots of medical deductions go with that), we flipped the scale in our favor. THANK YOU LORD!!! Instead of owing 1K, we may now get a return. Shew!! We are not completely finished, but oh so close. I hate this time of year, where you wait on pins and needles to see how you come out. By the way, neither of us are a math wiz. Well, its been a long, unnerving day, so I gotta go to bed, I'm pooped. Tomorrow is another day, and we can finish 'them taxes right up', then move on to fun stuff for the weekend. YEA!
Here is the verse for today:
"Is anything too hard for the Lord?"
Genesis 18:14
***************************
The answer to this wonderful question is...NO! The Lord can do anything and everything He pleases. So go ahead, just ask Him and see what happens. He wants to hear from you, no matter how big or small your question or problem or fear or worry is. He can handle it. I am so thankful I can turn to HIM for any and everything!
Talk at ya later!
Serving Him,
Christina

So tired!
We have had a sick kid for 2 weeks now. First birdie had croup and was put on Prednisone (sp?). For those of you who 'know' about that drug...it's evil and good. It made her terribly dizzy, which is not good for her since she is wobbly on a general basis, plus she was so weak and dehydrated, it compounded the dizziness. Found that out while I was trying to get her out of the bathtub, and dad was not at home. Scary having a sick, weak and dizzy 75 pound child who is as tall as me being woozzy and wobbly in a tub. But we made it out safe, no falling down on my watch! We narrowly escaped the hospital with this croup. It wears her out coughing like that. Second, birdie either had a tummy bug on top of the cough, or this croup made her gag so much she would "loose it"...if you know what I mean. The big issue with that is, she would throw up during the night. It always happens in the middle of the night, when we are all asleep and cozy under the covers, when suddenly we hear the tell-tale sound. We rush in there in the nick of time to get her to the potty, just a tad bit of splatter, (of course I had just cleaned her bathroom that very day). Curses!!! We thought she was on the mend, so we went to 'town'. Shopping, errands, and eating out 'cause we were all tired of being couped up. All was going well, until 2:00am the next morn until about 5:00am. Dad had things to do at church that morning, so he had to get up and make it to church. Birdie and I slept in, and she was perfectly fine. I, however, felt like I was run over by a truck! Did I mention, I had to go into work to make up for the hours I missed during the week. So, once dad arrived home from church, I headed to work...exhausted! It seems to never end. Then, we think having a three day weekend will help her heal so she can finally go back to school come Tuesday. But, while I'm at work today, dad takes her to Urgent Care because she has a yucky looking sore in her mouth which she is complaining about. Mind you, she never lets us know if something hurts, until it is a problem. So during the visit, the mouth thing turns out to be nothing, but she has a roaring ear infection. Man sakes alive! Does it ever end? See why we think we should be "in" the funny farm? I am afraid to say things are alright, but I think we really are on the mend. God help us! School tomorrow for her, dad at work, and yeah, my day off. I might even take a nap, wait, no, I have a meeting at her school at 12:30 then stuff to get ready for another meeting at her school at 5:00. Like I said...it never ends! Have I mentioned, we hate winter. I guess I should be thankful, it could be way worse. So, I'll be thankful!!
